After winning the 2020 Intersolar Award in Photovoltaics, REC Group’s global expansion roadmap continues to build on in-house innovation, ambition and excellence

Munich, Germany July 2, 2020
REC Group (“REC”) wishes to clarify and reassure customers and partners that the recent statement made by PV equipment supplier Meyer Burger Technology Ltd (“Meyer Burger”) will have no impact on REC’s annual 600 MW of HJT cell and module production capacity already in place and currently running. REC’s collaboration with Meyer Burger as an equipment supplier in this context will remain in place.

REC’s patented Alpha solar panel design is rapidly becoming the high-performance panel of choice for customers around the world. The Alpha Series is the 2020 winner of the prestigious Intersolar Award in the Photovoltaics category and REC continues to highlight the Alpha advantage with the recently announced ProTrust Warranty, REC Alpha 72 Series panels and BIS Certification for the Indian market. REC has now surpassed the 10 GW milestone of installed solar capacity and has been recognized as a Top Performer in the annual DNV-GL PV Module Reliability Scorecard for the fifth year in a row, reiterating REC’s commitment to quality beyond expectations and long-term module reliability.

For future expansions, such as the potential facility in France recently reported in the press, REC is not limited to use Meyer Burger equipment. With that, REC has been in detailed discussions and evaluations with several other technology partners who can better meet its long-term requirements in terms of cost and performance. New leading-edge suppliers are key to evolve the innovative REC Alpha product line, set new benchmarks in solar technology, and push forward the future expansion strategy of the company.

Looking to the future, REC CEO Steve O’Neil states: “Technology changes rapidly in the solar PV industry and innovations spring from many sources. Over our 24-year history, REC has repeatedly proven our unique ability to identify key early-stage PV developments and bring these concepts from the lab to industrialization on a mass production scale. With our strong and enduring global network of customers and channel partners, we rapidly commercialize these advancements, backed by the trusted REC brand. This pioneering leadership helps to drive the entire market forward, empowering consumers, setting new industry standards and enabling energy transitions. Our newest product, the award-winning REC Alpha, successfully brings together one of the most advanced cell technologies with REC’s patented panel design to produce a product of unrivaled power and performance, engineered and manufactured in REC’s new industry 4.0 facility in Singapore.”
