REC Group Scholarships Deliver Real Impact for Native American Solar Education in 2025

At REC Group, we believe that expanding access to clean energy careers starts with investing in people. In 2025, our Native American Solar Education Scholarship partnership with Solar Energy International (SEI) delivered meaningful, measurable impact, supporting students, families, and communities across the country.

Through REC Group’s scholarship funding during the 2025 award period, 16 scholarship recipients completed more than 1,640 hours of technical solar training, gaining skills in online coursework, advanced technical instruction, and hands-on lab and certification programs. These scholarships helped remove barriers to education for students pursuing careers in solar, many from rural, off-grid, or underserved communities.

Behind the numbers are powerful stories. Students like Bruno Toledo (Many Farms, AZ) and Leonard Ross (Window Rock, AZ) are using solar education to support their families, preserve the land, and bring reliable energy solutions to rural communities. Others, like Tuan Doan (San Francisco, CA), are building pathways toward industry certification, workforce leadership, and renewable energy advocacy in underserved regions.

REC’s support also enabled SEI to expand training access to Native Hawaiian communities, partnering with Hoahu Energy to provide fully funded solar education for off-grid residents in Hawaiʻi, training that directly supports daily energy needs and community resilience.

These outcomes reinforce why REC continues to invest in solar workforce development. By supporting education and training, we’re helping build a more inclusive, skilled, and future-ready solar industry, one that reflects and serves the communities it powers.
